Church Rules
We have a set of church rules that we ask all visitors to follow. These rules are in place to that everyone feels safe and respected while they with us. We ask that all visitors refrain from disruptive behaviour and treat others with kindness and compassion. following these rules, we can create welcoming and supportive environment for all who visit Abbey Wood Spiritualist Church.

CHURCH RULES

The Church shall be known as ABBEY WOOD CRUSADERS SPIRITUALIST CHURCH.

The object shall be the teaching of Spiritualism, the study of Mysticism and Spiritual Truth. It accepts the Leadership of Jesus Christ and the Seven Principles of Spiritualism:

The Fatherhood of God.

The Brotherhood of Man.
-
The Communion of Spirits and the Ministry of Angels.
-
The continuous existence of the Human Soul.
-
Personal Responsibility.
-
Compensation and retribution hereafter for all good and evil Deeds done on Earth.

Eternal progress open to every soul.

The Church Officers and Committee shall comprise of: a) The Officers of the Church shall be: - The President - 2 Vice Presidents - Treasurer - Secretary b) The Committee members shall be: - Eight elected members of the Church c) The Church Committee shall be elected annually when 50% of the Committee will stand down in rota. Committee members standing down will be eligible for re-election.

The Church is to have FOUR TRUSTEES who will act in the interests of the Church. The Trustees are to consider all proposed expenditure in excess of £300.00.

Services shall be held on Sundays at 6:30 pm, when a freewill offering will be accepted towards church funds. Healing services shall be held on Wednesdays at 10:30 am until 12 noon. No absent healing requests will be taken after 10 minutes before the commencement of Healing by the Church Committee.

The maximum number of trainee healers to be allowed at any one time shall be six. a) All applications from Trainee Healers or Qualified Healers to be accepted as a qualified healing medium by the church must be submitted in writing and accepted by the committee. b) A qualified healer joining the church within the first year must have their qualifications checked and verified by the committee before being accepted as a qualified healing medium by the church. c) All church healers and probationer healers must, if accepted by the committee, sign the church code of conduct and take out appropriate insurance. The insurance will be supplied by the church treasurer once a year in December. d) All church funds to be held and used wisely by the committee and trustees for the betterment of the church.

The President or a member of the committee shall preside at all services unless otherwise stated to discuss church affairs.

The committee shall meet once each Three months unless otherwise stated to discuss Church affairs.

Any member being more than 8 weeks in arrears shall automatically cease to be a member.

The annual subscription for membership is to be paid on January 1st.

The accounts of the church shall be audited annually by 2 auditors who shall be elected by the committee at the time of audit.

The Annual General Meeting shall be held at a convenient date during the first week of March to discuss the election for which three weeks notice shall be given.

At all council meetings FIVE members shall form a quorum.

Eligibility for election to the committee: a) No person with less than 2 years membership shall be eligible for membership of the committee. b) Nominees for President or Vice President shall be from the serving members of the committee. c) Existing committee members who are re-elected eligible members of the church nominated at the AGM shall fill the remaining vacancies. d) No person can apply to be a committee member who does not attend church within a 12 month period. e) All voting for committee members shall be by ballot. f) Only members of 12 months standing are eligible to vote. g) Proxy votes will not be accepted; postal votes will not be accepted.

All nominations for the committee election to be submitted in writing to the secretary prior to the AGM.

All nominations to be proposed and seconded by eligible members of the church having a membership of at least 12 months.

New rules for the Church to be standards. Any alterations of the existing rules to be submitted in writing to the secretary prior to 13 January.

Any Questions or circumstances arising, not provided for in these rules shall be referred to the Committee to deal with to the best of their ability.

All Members are requested to acquaint themselves with the rules and abide by them.

All church funds to be held and used wisely by the committee and trustees for the betterment of the church.
