Her Memories
My first experience of spiritualism was when I was about 10 years old (1972).
I’d had one eye operation at the age of 8 but it looked like I was going to need another one as the first wasn’t as successful as hoped. My Dad believed in spiritualism and was a healer many years previous, he suggested I go with him to visit a man called Mr Lane. On the way, my Dad explained that this man was going to place his warm hands on my eyes and everything was going to be alright.
When we arrived at the man’s house, he led me into a room with my Dad and explained that his warm hands were going to help my eyes heal and that I shouldn’t need another operation.
A few weeks later I had a pre-op appointment at Moorfields Eye Hospital, I remember my Dad saying to me, “Don’t say anything about seeing Mr Lane, they won’t understand”. My consultant was baffled when he examined me and asked a colleague to come in to check. The outcome was that they decided I didn’t need another operation and couldn’t make out what had happened.
My Mum and Dad continued to support the church at Harvel Crescent, my Dad passed to spirit in 2011 but Mum now 93 years old and I still regularly attend. I’m also on the committee and sit in Circle.
