In remembrance of and gratitude for the life of
GLYN EDWARDS
1949 ~ 2015

On the anniversary of the 5th year of his passing on 31st May 2015, Glyn was born in Liverpool on 17th August 1949 and was the oldest of four siblings. During his Earth-life, he became internationally recognised as one of the UK’s finest mediums. At 16 he joined a Benedictine community where various mediumistic experiences he had had since a child intensified, which subsequently led him to leave the community after two years and began to take a deeper interest in his mediumistic abilities after a sitting with a medium who gave him remarkable evidence about his grandmother and other members of his family.
He did his first public demonstration at 19 and began working regularly in his early 20s, became a certificated medium of the Spiritualists’ National Union, and a protégée of the world-renowned medium Gordon M Higginson.
He was involved with the research of PRISM (Psychical Research Involving Selected Mediums), and travelled extensively, speaking, lecturing, demonstrating and running workshops throughout the UK and worldwide for over 40 years. He was a regular course organiser and teacher at the Arthur Findlay College and worked at the Spiritualist Association of Great Britain on numerous occasions.
He was particularly known for the quality of his work and his ability to demonstrate his mediumship almost effortlessly in front of large audiences. Sometimes he gave a demonstration of trance mediumship.
He was interviewed on television and radio throughout the world, recorded many teachings and practices, wrote numerous articles on mediumship and spiritual growth, and co-authored popular development manuals with a long-time close friend and spiritual writer. For a while he undertook instruction from a tantric yoga master, as well as a teacher from the Bihar School of Yoga, who gave him the name Devadasa (meaning ‘servant of God’).
In 2003 he made the front page of Psychic News after being struck-down by a mystery illness that affected the muscles on the left side of his face as well as his balance. After this, he showed how determination and the power of the spirit can overcome adversity. Remarkably, many testified to how his work and teachings moved on to a deeper level. In the late spring of 2014, he was diagnosed with cancer and underwent chemotherapy. Although it became clear Glyn was not responding well to the treatment, right up to the very last week of his Earth-life, his sense of humour and enthusiasm for working with students and the spirit were as much in evidence as they had ever been.
He passed to spirit peacefully with his mother and sister by his side on 31st May 2015. His work lives on of course in the books he wrote, anthologies of his teachings, recordings he made, and with various people he helped.
The Glyn Edwards Spiritual Awareness Foundation also continues to run courses honouring his name.
